The Town of LeRay must approve its budget by November 20th of each year, as its fiscal year runs January 1 to December 31.  Typically, the Town Board will hold a public hearing for the budget on the first Thursday after Election Day.  Once the budget is approved, it is filed with the State Comptroller's Office and is thereby declared the Adopted Town Budget for the upcoming year.  Once the Town budget is adopted, Town tax rates are finalized.

Each year, the Town of LeRay engages the services of an independent auditor to review its financial position as well as to comment on other areas, such as internal controls and information technology.  Currently, the Town uses the accounting firm of Crowley & Halloran, P.C..  The Town Board also engages the firm to audit the Town Court.

Lastly, Standard & Poor's recently upgraded the Town of LeRay's credit rating to A/Stable.  Here is the press release.
