About the Town
Welcome to the Town of LeRay, located in Central Northern Jefferson County in Northern New York State. Established in 1806, we are the proud residence of a number of villages, including Evans Mills and part of the Village of Black River, as well as the main cantonment area of Fort Drum - home of the U.S. Army's 10th Mountain Division. With a current population of 25,574, our town is conveniently located just over an hour north of Syracuse and about 30 minutes south of the St. Lawrence River and the Canadian border. We are also easily accessed by Interstate 81, which runs north/south, as well as US Route 11, NYS Routes 3, 26, 37, 283 and 342. Watertown City is only one mile South of the southernmost part of the Town borders.
We invite both long-time residents and businesses, as well as new and prospective ones, to explore our website for helpful information and resources about our town. Our goal is to provide you with an informative and engaging online experience that meets the needs of everyone in our community. Thank you for visiting the Town of LeRay - we hope you enjoy learning more about our wonderful community!
